Scene Exploration
A Scene Exploration is a type of event you can add to an Immersive training experience in Strivr Creator. Scene Explorations allow you to place Markers in your Experience for your learner to learn about at their own pace. For example, if you had a factory floor with hazards, you could place a Marker on each hazard. When a learner enters the Experience, they will see a yellow Marker highlighting each hazard. When they select one of the Markers, they will be presented with more information to learn about that hazard (the "Click Result"). Markers that they have already viewed will change to green. The learner cannot continue until they have selected and learned about each Marker.
When should I use a Scene Exploration?
Because a Scene Exploration is meant for the learner to learn about spatial areas at their own pace, you should generally use Scene Exploration for Lessons. You should use looping 360 videos in the background of a Scene Exploration.
How to add a Scene Exploration
-
In the left-hand panel, select a video to which you would like to add a Scene Exploration. Each video can have one Scene Exploration event.
-
In the Event bar at the top of the screen, click the Scene Exploration icon.
-
Click a location in the video preview to place the event. "Scene Exploration" will appear in the left-hand panel.
-
Type a unique name to rename the event.
-
Set the Start Time or Buffer Time in the right-hand panel. If your Scene Exploration is in a non-looping video, adjust the start time to match the time in the video at which you want it to appear. If your Scene Exploration is in a looping video, set the buffer time when this event will occur after the previous event.
-
Add Markers by clicking +Add under "Scene Exploration" in the left-hand panel. You can add up to 5 in a Scene Exploration. Make sure to rename each Marker with a unique name.
How to edit the properties of a Marker
In the Tree view, select a Marker (under "Scene Exploration") and the properties for that Marker appear in the Properties panel on the right.
Marker size
Change the size of a Marker to Small (S), Medium (M) or Large (L).
Position
To move a Marker quickly, click and drag it to the new location in the video preview. You can also specify exact coordinates for the Marker.
Highlight area size
The Highlight Area is a yellow outline that circles the full object of interest in a video. For example, if there is a hazardous puddle on the floor, adjust the width and height of the highlight area to fit around the puddle. The highlight area is only visible when a Marker is selected by the learner.
Click result type
The Click Result is the overlay window that pops up with more information when a Marker is selected by a learner. Depending on the type you choose, you can add a title, description, and/or image to it. Images should be JPG or PNG, 800px x 600px at 72dpi. Images are resized to the maximum dimensions—make sure to use a 4:3 aspect ratio image (the ratio of width to height is 4 to 3).
Click result location
Choose the location where you want the overlay to appear in relation to the Marker: above, below, left, or right of the Marker.
Audio
You can add an external audio file to a Marker (for example, audio that reads the description aloud). The audio file will play automatically when a learner selects the Marker. To learn more about recording audio, see Using Third Party Software with Strivr Creator.
