Tips / Workarounds |
|
Phone / Tablet |
iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Pixel |
✔️ Most accessible option—use what you already have ✔️ Flexibility of front and back cameras ✔️ Compatible with inexpensive tripod or clip for hands-free filming encouraging 💭 Harder to capture a true POV (first-person) perspective 💭 Movement can make footage shaky or hard to follow |
✨ Limit movement or use a tripod for stability ✨ Have your SME wear Bluetooth earbuds for clearer audio ✨ You can also record voiceover later in WorkWise |
|
Desktop / Laptop (Screen Recording only) |
--- |
✔️ Record directly within WorkWise—no extra software needed ✔️ Capture browser tabs, windows, or your full screen ✔️ Option to include voiceover 💭 Limited to computer-based processes (no physical POV) 💭 Requires browser microphone permissions to record voice |
✨ Use the timer to give yourself setup time before capture starts ✨ Test your microphone or select “No microphone” if recording silent visuals only |
|
XR Headset |
Apple Vision Pro (AVP), Meta Quest 3 |
✔️ Most polished, high-quality footage ✔️ Strivr WorkWise capture app available for select headsets (AVP, Meta Quest) 💭 Bulky to wear; takes time to get comfortable 💭 Passthrough may distort fine text or details 💭 Requires initial setup and user calibration (AVP only) |
✨ Use “Guest Mode” (e.g., on Apple Vision Pro) to avoid recalibrating each time ✨ Build in setup time for first-time users to get acclimated |
|
Smart Glasses |
Meta Ray-Ban, Meta Oakley, Vive Eagle, Snap Spectacles |
✔️ Lightweight and simple—just put them on ✔️ Pairs easily with phone apps (e.g., Meta AI) 💭 Short recording durations (often ~3 minutes max) 💭 May not fit comfortably for those who wear glasses 💭 Vertical (3:4) aspect ratio may limit framing |
✨ Recharge glasses between clips—the case holds several charges ✨ Consider prescription lenses if needed for comfort |
|
Wearable Action Camera |
GoPro, Insta360, DJI Action |
✔️ Hands-free POV perspective ✔️ Reliable for longer continuous recording ✔️ Adjustable mounts for different angles 💭 Wide “fisheye” look typical for action cameras 💭 Takes a few tries to find the right angle |
✨ Pair with a companion app (e.g., GoPro Quik) to preview framing ✨ Do a short dry run and adjust the mount before your real capture |

Tips & Tricks: Capture Best Practices
- Get prepared. Gather your equipment and mentally walk through your procedure before recording. You don’t need a script—just know your key steps. A quick dry run helps your capture flow smoothly, and WorkWise tools can help you polish later.
- Keep it short. Break the procedure down into small, relevant steps. Imagine you are training someone new. You wouldn’t perform a ten minute process then ask them to repeat it. Approach with a “task” mindset.
- Point and gesture. Imagine speaking to the person who will learn from your procedure. Use your hands naturally to direct their attention to key details, as if you were standing shoulder-to-shoulder guiding them in real time.
- Use WorkWise editing tools. Once you’ve captured your POV, use WorkWise’s built-in tools to refine your procedure. You can trim clips, stitch together multiple recordings, edit audio, and add annotations to highlight important moments. With these tools, you can transform any raw capture into a clear, engaging procedure using WorkWise.
