Embedding WorkWise Procedures

This article will walk you through how you can embed WorkWise procedures into your existing content or learning management systems.

Embedding is a feature that allows users to easily embed WorkWise procedures into an external content or learning management system via HTML snippet. You have two options when embedding a procedure:

1) You can choose to embed a link and thumbnail of your procedure that when clicked, will open the procedure in WorkWise in a new browser tab. This option requires a WorkWise account and the user will have to login when opening the procedure in WorkWise.

2) You can choose to embed the procedure directly inline so that a user can watch the procedure video from within your article. This option does not require a WorkWise account and the video can be watched by anyone with access to the article in your learning or content system.

In this article, we will go through the process of embedding a WorkWise procedure via both methods.

Embedding via link and thumbnail (WorkWise account required)

To share a procedure, go to the procedure page and click the 3-dot menu in the top right of the page. Select "Embed".

A modal will pop up with the embedding options.

By default, the "Restricted Access" option is selected and  this option will embed the link and thumbnail to this procedure. You can change the width of how the thumbnail will appear in your learning/content system by editing the pixel value in the "dimensions" field. Note that you cannot change the height value and it will update automatically as you change the width in order to maintain your video's native aspect ratio. You can copy the embed snippet to your clipboard by clicking the "Copy embed code" button.

Embedding inline video player  (WorkWise account NOT required)

You also have the ability to embed the video directly in your learning/content system which can be viewed by anyone, with or without a WorkWise account. In order to embed the video directly, a user with the Admin role must first enable public sharing of the procedure. To enable public sharing, go to a procedure page, click the 3-dot menu in the top right of the page, and click "Manage access".

Toggle ON the option that says "Allow content to be shared & embedded with the public URL".

Once enabled, you can click "Done".

Please note: public URLs (whether sharing or embedding) allow anyone with the link to view the procedure, regardless if they have a WorkWise account or not. Use caution when sharing this link to help prevent the possibility of your procedure being viewed by anyone you might not want to see it. In the case that your link is compromised, you can create a new public link by clicking the "Regenerate" button in the above modal. This will create a new public link and it will break any previously-generated public links.

Once a public link has been generated, you can return to the Embed modal. To embed the procedure video directly, select "Public access".

Now when you click "Copy embed code", this will give you the HTML snippet that will allow anyone to view the procedure video directly within the article.

You can use the video player to the left see how the video player will look and behave embedded in your article.

Embedding the procedure in your learning/content system

Once you have the HTML snippet, simply copy and paste it into your learning or content management system.

Here is an example flow of what this may look like.

Note that all learning and content management systems are different and have different interfaces, so your system may not look exactly like the example.

First, find the option to embed content into your system. Your system may refer to it as an "HTML embed" or something similar.

Next, paste in the HTML snippet that you copied to your clipboard from the steps above.

Finally, when you save your article, you will see your procedure embedded, either via link and thumbnail, or inline video player (depending on which option you selected in WorkWise).
