Why is there a black screen in the Rift headset?
Note: This article applies only to Oculus Rift headsets.
If the learner sees a black screen inside the Rift headset, take these troubleshooting steps in order:

Make sure the experience is not paused.

Instruct the user to look around in the headset for a Pause button.

If they see a pause button, you should press F5 on the laptop keyboard or press the middle button on the Oculus or Apple remote. They should be returned to training.

If the learner does not see a pause symbol, continue to step 2.

Open the Oculus app and select Devices.

Expand the Oculus Rift and Touch section by selecting >.

Scroll down the list and select Device Setup.

Follow the setup tutorial. Please skip the Guardian portion.

Test the headset again.

If the display in the headset is still black, continue to step 3.

Disconnect and reconnect the headset.

Unplug the HDMI cable from the computer and the headset.

Wait 60 seconds.

Plug the HDMI cable back into the computer and the headset.

Test the headset.

If the headset screen is still black please contact Strivr Support.
